Twitter reactions: Mohammad Rizwan shines as Pakistan crush Bangladesh in tri-series opener
In the opening game of the T20 tri-series in New Zealand, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Friday.
Put in to bat, Pakistan managed to post 167/5 in their 20 overs, thanks to their crisis man Mohammad Rizwan, who once again held his guard while wickets were falling at other ends.
Rizwan formed important partnerships with other batters to keep the scoreboard tickling. The wicketkeeper-batter added 52 runs for the opening wicket with captain Babar Azam (22) and 42 runs for the first wicket with Shan Masood (31). Rizwan stayed unbeaten at 78 from 50 deliveries with the help of seven fours and a couple of sixes.
In response, Bangladesh could only manage to reach 146/8, losing the contest by 21 runs. Mohammad Wasim Jr was the pick of the bowler for Pakistan, taking three wickets while conceding 24 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
Mohammad Nawaz also bagged a couple of scalps for 30 runs in 4 overs. For Bangladesh, Yasir Ali top-scored with 42 from 21 deliveries with the help of five fours and two sixes.

Mohammad Rizwan passes 50 for the 7th time in 11 games. If you're doubting the man's consistency and ability to step up…you're watching the wrong game. Cause in a team with gaping holes…this man is a patch. #PAKvBAN pic.twitter.com/Q3PYcXfydf

Wonderful bowling by @mnawaz94 still annoyed how we’ve under-bowled him in recent times. He should be man of the match today🤲 #PAKvBAN
