India legend Virender Sehwag picks the finalists of T20 World Cup 2022

Virender Sehwag predicts T20 World Cup finalists

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has picked the finalists of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The global showpiece event is currently underway in Australia, with the last Round 1 match taking place between Scotland and Zimbabwe before the competition heads to Super 12 games, starting October 22.

Sehwag named India and Australia as the two teams that will reach the T20 World Cup finals. He reckoned that the defending champions would be a difficult team to beat in their home conditions. Sehwag said the Rohit Sharma-led side has the right balance and experience of playing down under, hence the Men in Blue can play the summit clash against the hosts.

“The hosts are Australia, and defeating them Down Under is very difficult. The other would be the Indian team who are balanced and have experience of playing in Australia,” said Sehwag while speaking in a chat show on Cricbuzz.

The former India skipper was also quizzed about who could end up as the leading run-getter in the 20-over showpiece event. Responding to this query, Sehwag went with Pakistan captain Babar Azam and said the right-handed batter brings the same calmness as superstar Virat Kohli does in the shortest format.

“He has been extraordinary. Great fun to watch. There is a sense of calmness whenever Virat Kohli bats, and you get something similar when watching Babar,” added Sehwag.

Notably, arch-rivals India and Pakistan will start their T20 World Cup campaign against each other at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23. In their last meeting at the 2021 edition of the multi-team tournament, Pakistan managed to get the better of India and registered a dominating 10-wicket triumph. This time, the Men in Blue will look to settle the score, so it’s gonna be a cracker of a game.
