Twitter reactions: Curtis Campher blitz power Ireland to a much-needed win at the 2022 T20 World Cup
Curtis Campher smashed an unbeaten 72 from 32 deliveries to lead Ireland to a six-wicket win over Scotland in Hobart on Wednesday, October 19.
Scotland, who shocked two-times champion West Indies in the opening game of Group B on Monday and was in full control of the game against Ireland with Andrew Balbirnie & Co. struggling at 61-4 in 9.3 overs, while chasing 177 for victory.
But Campher added an unbeaten 119-run stand with George Dockrell (39* off 27) and turned the match in Ireland’s favour. They took their side over the finish line with six balls remaining in the game.
Earlier, Michael Jones hit his maiden T20I half-century, a blazing 55-ball 86, to guide Scotland to a competitive total – 176/5. Captain Richie Berrington (37), Matthew Cross (28) and Michael Leask (17 not out) also valuable contributions for the Scots.
