T20 World Cup 2022: Virender Sehwag slams Australia for poor hospitality of Team India
Indian cricket legend Virender Sehwag has fired some shots at hospitality in Australia after reports emerged that the Rohit Sharma-led Team India was unhappy with the food served in Sydney.
After winning their opening match against Pakistan in Melbourne, the Indian team travelled to Sydney ahead of their next game against Netherlands at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 27.
As part of their preparations for the upcoming contest, the Men in Blue held an optional training session on Tuesday. But the food offered to them was not of good quality; only cold food was provided like sandwiches, falafel, fruits and salads. For the unversed, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is handling the responsibility of providing food during the T20 World Cup 2022.
Further, Rohit & Co. also did not participate in the practice session as they were offered a venue in Blacktown, which is approximately 45 minutes from the hotel.
“The food that was offered to Team India was not good. They were just given sandwiches, and they have also told ICC that the food provided after the practice session in Sydney was cold and not good,” reported ANI.
“Team India did not do practice sessions as it was offered a practice venue in Blacktown (In sub-urbs of Sydney), so they refused because that is appropriately 45 minutes away from Team Hotel where they are staying,” ANI added.
Reacting to the news, Sehwag took to his official Twitter handle and showcased the difference in hospitality between India and Western countries.
“Gone are the days when one used to think that the Western countries offer so good hospitality. India are way ahead of most western countries when it comes to providing hospitality of the highest standards,” tweeted Sehwag.
