Twitter reactions: George Munsey, Mark Watt shine as Scotland trump West Indies – T20 World Cup 2022
In another major upset at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, Scotland defeated the two-time champions West Indies at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday. Notably, in the tournament opener, Namibia thrashed Sri Lanka by 55 runs on Sunday, October 16.
Put to bat first, the Scotts produced a decent batting display and went on to post a competitive 160/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Opener George Munsey carried his bat, smashing an unbeaten half-century and ensured that his side reach a formidable total.
Munsey went on to score 66* from 53 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries. Apart from the left-handed batter, Calum MacLeod (23 off 14) and Michael Jones (20 off 17) chipped in with valuable contributions.
In response, the Caribbean side kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 118 in 18.3 overs, losing the contest by 42 runs.
All-rounder Jason Holder did stay in the middle till the penultimate over but didn’t get enough support from the other end. Holder top-scored for West Indies with 38 from 33 deliveries, including 4 fours and a six.
Mark Watt shined with the ball for Scotland, taking a brilliant three-wicket haul while conceding 12 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Brad Wheal (2/32) and Michael Leask (2/14) also bagged a couple of scalps each.

Richie Berrington was on receiving end of 1 of the worst umpiring decisions in ICC tournament history just before the rain arrived vs West Indies at 2018 WCQ in Zimbabwe, a decision that cost Scotland a place at 2019 WC in England. Imagine how good he must feel as captain today. pic.twitter.com/TvaG3skHQw

First ever win for Scotland against West Indies.
Both teams have faced each other 10 times, with the first of them being back in 1906.#T20WorldCup

Another fantastic day for Associates! This time it is SCO.
They have a plucky batting unit – Munsey, Cross, Berrington and co. And some useful pacers.
Leask bowling from round the wicket and Watt from well behind the crease turned out to be decisive factors on a slow deck.

Victories by Associates against Test nations in the first two days of the T20 World Cup. And both absolutely crushing and clinical: a great advert for the 20-team T20 World Cup that is coming in in 2024

Glad it’s a 16 team World Cup. The format and the conditions promises to make this, one of the most competitive. #T20WorldCup2022

Associate teams get a platform to grab eyeballs and ICC makes sure they don't by scheduling warm-up game of big teams along with them. #T20WorldCup
