Twitter reactions: George Munsey, Mark Watt shine as Scotland trump West Indies – T20 World Cup 2022

Scotland beat West Indies in T20 WC 2022

In another major upset at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, Scotland defeated the two-time champions West Indies at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday. Notably, in the tournament opener, Namibia thrashed Sri Lanka by 55 runs on Sunday, October 16.

Put to bat first, the Scotts produced a decent batting display and went on to post a competitive 160/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Opener George Munsey carried his bat, smashing an unbeaten half-century and ensured that his side reach a formidable total.

Munsey went on to score 66* from 53 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries. Apart from the left-handed batter, Calum MacLeod (23 off 14) and Michael Jones (20 off 17) chipped in with valuable contributions.

In response, the Caribbean side kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 118 in 18.3 overs, losing the contest by 42 runs.

All-rounder Jason Holder did stay in the middle till the penultimate over but didn’t get enough support from the other end. Holder top-scored for West Indies with 38 from 33 deliveries, including 4 fours and a six.

Mark Watt shined with the ball for Scotland, taking a brilliant three-wicket haul while conceding 12 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Brad Wheal (2/32) and Michael Leask (2/14) also bagged a couple of scalps each.
