IND v SA: WATCH – Ball boy takes a stunner after Indian fielders drop two consecutive catches in the first ODI
Team India, on Thursday, engaged in a thrilling contest against South Africa in the first One-Day International (ODI), where the visitors won the game by nine runs at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
In a match that was reduced to 40 overs per side due to rain, India bowled first and ended up conceding 249/4. The total, however, could be different, but the Indian fielders had a terrible day on the ground, dropping as many as three catches, including of David Miller and Henrich Klassen, who took Proteas to a competitive score.
Miller and Klassen made full use of the opportunities given to them as they went to smash their respective half-centuries. While Miller stayed unbeaten at 75 off 63 balls, with the help of five fours and three sixes, Klassen remained undefeated at 74 from 65 deliveries, including six fours and two maximums.
Interestingly, both Miller and Klassen gave chances to the hosts in the 38th over bowled by Avesh Khan, but Indian fielders failed to cash in the opportunity. On the first ball of the over, Mohammed Siraj dropped an easy catch of Klassen, and on the very next delivery, Ravi Bishnoi couldn’t lay a hand onto Miller’s catch.
Adding insult to injury, Miller then smoked Avesh for a six on the fourth ball. But then the ball boy grabbed all the limelight, as he took the catch quite easily behind the boundary line. Seeing the ball boy grabbing the catch, fans, as well as the commentators, were deeply impressed.

Speaking about the game, Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer starred for India in their chase, but the hosts fell nine runs short and lost the contest. Iyer scored 50 off 37 balls, while Samson remained unbeaten at 86 off 63 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes.
