‘Sweet Mangoes’: Naveen ul Haq’s indirect dig at Virat Kohli during MI vs RCB clash sets social media on fire

Naveen ul Haq and Virat Kohli

The dispute between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Naveen ul Haq and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli doesn’t seem to end. Moreover, it has intensified further after several indirect digs from Naveen on Kohli.

Notably, both the players indulged in a verbal spat during LSG vs RCB clash last week and were also slapped with heavy fines for their misbehaviour on the field. While Virat was fined 100 percent of his match fees, Naveen lost 50 percent of his match payment for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct.

The conflict between the Afghani cricketer and former India captain once again reignited during the 54th match of IPL 2023, which saw Mumbai Indians (MI) take on RCB at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday (May 9). The LSG seamer between the match took to his Instagram and shared a story of him watching the live action from his hotel room. The story appeared to be a dig at Virat to many cricket fans, as it seemed to celebrate the former’s wicket.

“Sweet mango’s,” wrote Naveen on the picture he shared in his story.

The 23-year-old did not stop here and went on to share a photo depicting MI requiring eight runs of 27 balls accompanied by another cryptic caption: “Round 2 with these. One of the best mangoes I have ever had thanks @dhaval_parab bhai.”

While many cricket enthusiasts didn’t like Naveen’s indirect dig at Kohli, others saw it as a befitting response. It is to be noted that a few days back, Kohli also took to Instagram and shared a story appreciating Gujarat Titans’ (GT) players Wriddhiman Saha and Rashid Khan for putting up a great show against the Lucknow-based team.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of the MI vs RCB match, Mumbai registered a comprehensive six-wicket victory over the Bangalore-based team and chased the mammoth 200-run target in just 16.3 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was the top scorer for his team, as he scored a brilliant 83 off just 35 deliveries. Meanwhile, Nehal Wadhera also contributed valuable 52 runs in the run chase.
