Jos Buttler trolls himself after setting an unwanted record at the IPLT20

Jos Buttler, IPL 2023

Jos Buttler, the prominent batsman of Rajasthan Royals (RR), who clinched the Orange Cap in the IPL 2022 season with a remarkable 863 runs in 17 matches, has encountered a significant decline in his performance this year, managing only 392 runs. The 32-year-old has been struggling to find his form, as evidenced by his recent dismissal in the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

During RR’s crucial match against PBKS, Buttler suffered yet another setback when he was dismissed without scoring a run, facing just three balls. This unfortunate event marked his third consecutive duck in IPL 2023. Regrettably, Buttler has now set an unwanted record by accumulating five ducks in a single edition of the IPL, surpassing the previous record of four ducks held by Herschelle Gibbs, Manish Pandey and Shikhar Dhawan.

It is worth noting that Buttler’s struggle with ducks is particularly surprising, considering that he had only registered one duck in 81 innings throughout his IPL career from 2016 to 2022. However, in this year’s edition, he clubbed five ducks in just 14 innings, highlighting the extent of his current batting challenges.

After RR emerged victorious over PBKS, their captain Sanju Samson shared a delightful photo on social media. The picture captured a candid moment between Samson, Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal as they engaged in a conversation while sitting on the field. A couple of water bottles were placed in front of them.

Samson added a playful caption, “Yuziii, Josetta..korch neram irunnu nokam Chelapo Biriyani kittiyalo? (Let’s sit for sometime, maybe we might get Biryani),” to the photo, referencing a popular dialogue from the Malayalam movie ‘One Man Show’.

Buttler, in response to Samson’s post, came up with a witty comment. He wrote, “No Biryani… duck pancakes!” This lighthearted remark added a touch of amusement to the conversation. Chahal, joining in the banter, replied with laughter, commenting, “Head shot”. The playful exchange of comments further enhanced the camaraderie among the players, showcasing their sense of humour off the field.
