IPL 2023 [WATCH]: Rinku Singh hits a 110-meter six off Naveen-ul-Haq during KKR vs LSG thriller

Rinku Singh's massive six against Naveen-ul-Haq

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), on Saturday, became the third team to qualify for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 playoffs with a thrilling win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Though, the hopes of LSG making it to the knockout stage would have shattered as KKR’s latest batting sensation Rinku Singh, who nearly sealed the deal for KKR with a blistering knock. Despite the spinners of LSG causing difficulties for the KKR middle order, Rinku single-handedly resurrected their chase of 177 by scoring another half-century. However, KKR narrowly missed out on what could have been one of the most memorable victories of the season, falling short by just one run.

Rinku made his intentions clear in the final phases of the game, especially when he took Naveen-ul-Haq to the cleaners in the penultimate over of KKR’s chase. The left-handed batter smashed a hat-trick of boundaries before slamming a gigantic 110-meter six to bring up his fifty.

It happened on the fifth ball when Naveen bowled a slot ball on the pads, and Rinku flicked it deep into the night sky for a 110m jaw-dropping maximum, leaving everyone awestruck.

Here is the video:

Rinku has proven to be one of the most impressive talents of IPL 2023. Throughout 14 matches for KKR, he has accumulated an impressive tally of 474 runs with four half-centuries, showcasing a remarkable strike rate of 149.53. It is worth noting that all of his fifty-plus scores have been achieved while chasing targets.

Following the match, Rinku received widespread recognition for his brilliant batting performance. Gautam Gambhir, the former captain of KKR and current mentor of LSG, had a conversation with Rinku and a picture capturing their interaction was subsequently shared on Twitter. In the tweet, Gambhir showered praise on KKR’s exceptional finisher, writing, “What an impressive display by Rinku today! He is an extraordinary talent!”
