IPL 2023: Naveen-ul-Haq opens up on the viral ‘sorry’ tweet to Virat Kohli
Naveen-ul-Haq and controversies have now become synonyms with each other. The Lucknow Super Giants (LCG) pacer just a few days ago once again made it to the headlines for his alleged ‘sorry’ tweet to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli. Notably, Naveen and Virat indulged in a heated altercation during an IPL 2023 match between LSG and RCB and were fined for their misconduct.
The fight even got worse later as both the players took some indirect digs at each other on social media post the match. The exchange made Naveen subject to huge hate and trolling throughout the remaining matches. He was also teased by the chants of ‘Kohli-Kohli’ at different venues. However, recently a message was circulated and went viral on the internet that showed Naveen apologising to Kohli via Tweet.
After a huge discussion and buzz over the alleged ‘sorry’ tweet, Naveen has now come forward and cleared things up regarding the same. The right-arm pacer took to his Instagram story and said that the account that posted the apology message was masquerading as him and was fake.
“From this fake account whoever has got msges report it thanks,” wrote Naveen sharing the screenshot of the fake profile.
It is worth mentioning that after making multiple tweets in Naveen’s name, the account has now been taken down.
Speaking of Naveen’s debut IPL season, the LSG pacer had a decent time with the ball in the 16th edition of the league and took eleven wickets at an economy of 7.82 in eight matches that he played for his team. Meanwhile, Naveen’s best figure of 4/38 in the tournament came against Mumbai Indians (MI) during a losing cause in the Eliminator.
Although Lucknow were eliminated from the league after the loss against MI, Naveen did open up on the Kohli chants by the spectators in the post-match press conference and said that things like these don’t affect him.
“I enjoy it. I like the crowd chanting his [Virat Kohli’s] name or any other player’s name. It gives me passion to play well for my team,” said Naveen.
