IPL 2023 [WATCH] : CSK fans sleep at the railway station as the IPL final gets postponed due to rain
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final will take place on Monday (May 29) after rain spoiled the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The final between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a huge setback as the rain continued to poured down.
Even the toss could not take place on Sunday due to the wet conditions. The match was scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST. The umpires waited till nearly 11:00 PM to try and see if any play was possible. The heavy showers dented the hope of the fans to see their favourite cricketer, MS Dhoni, on the field in action.
Dhoni is arguably the most loved cricketer ever to have played the game, and his stardom was on display again on Sunday when a sea of yellow took over the Narendra Modi stadium. Uncountable fans in their yellow jerseys came to the stadium to support CSK and were heard chanting Dhoni, Dhoni and CSK, CSK despite the rain in Ahmedabad. However, fans have to left the stadium in disppointment as rain played spoilsport and did not allow a single ball to be bowled.
The struggle of fans didn’t end here. Many CSK supporters came to Ahmedabad from different regions of the nation to see the IPL championship. Rain, however, prevented it from happening. The game had to be moved to the reserve day, and because the decision was made very late at night, the travelling supporters who had originally planned to leave the ground were unsure of what to do.
Fans had no choice but to spend their night at the Ahmedabad railway station . And the evidence of that is now circulating on social media in the form of videos and images.
Here’s the video:
It is 3 o'clock in the night when I went to Ahmedabad railway station, I saw people wearing jersey of csk team, some were sleeping, some were awake, some people, I asked them what they are doing, they said we have come only to see MS Dhoni @IPL @ChennaiIPL #IPLFinal #Ahmedabad pic.twitter.com/ZJktgGcv8U

The contest will now start on reserve day on Monday (May 29) and will follow Sunday’s schedule with rain still expected to be an uninvited guest. Fans will be hoping that the rain stays away from the awaited final.
