“I’m filing a defamation case”: Boria Majumdar accuses Wriddhiman Saha of doctoring WhatsApp chats

Wriddhiman Saha, Boria Mujumdar

Sports journalist Boria Majumdar will file a defamation cage against Wriddhiman Saha in response to the recent allegations made by the Indian wicketkeeper.

In a video Mujumdar shared on social media, he said the WhatsApp chats that Saha had put out were a doctored version of the exchange between the two.

“I’m filing a defamation case on Wriddhiman Saha. He has doctored, tampered and manipulated screenshots. Earlier today, I have sent the BCCI all the details and I have emailed everybody in the BCCI the entire sequence of events. I have also tweeted my side of the story,” Majumdar was quoted as saying to the Indian Express.

Last week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) constituted a committee to look into the matter of Saha receiving threats and intimidation from a senior journalist.

The 37-year-old wicketkeeper posted a tweet on February 19, saying: “After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so-called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.”

In his tweet, Saha has not named the journalist who threatened him, but he told the BCCI the details of the entire incident on Saturday.

“I have told the committee everything I know. I have shared all the details with them. I can’t tell you much right now. BCCI has asked me not to talk about the meeting outside as they will answer all your queries,” Saha told reporters after appearing before the board vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and IPL governing council member Prabhtej Bhatia.

Well, the controversy began after Saha was dropped from the India squad for the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka.
