IND vs SL: Wasim Jaffer names his India’s playing XI for Pink-Ball Test against Sri Lanka

Wasim Jaffer on India playing XI for 2nd Test

Team India will soon be seen in action in the upcoming second Test against Sri Lanka, which is set to begin on March 12 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It is going to be a Day-Night game and will be played with the Pink Ball.

The hosts are already leading the two-match series 1-0 after registering a dominant victory in the opening Test at PCA Stadium in Mohali. Rohit Sharma and Co. had defeated the Islanders by an innings and 222 runs.

More often than not, teams tend not to change the winning combination, but since Jayant Yadav failed to pick any wickets in the series opener, it is likely that he will get replaced, especially considering the next game will be played under the lights.

Notably, ahead of the second and final Test, spinner Axar Patel has joined the squad after completely recovering from injury. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, who had filled the spot for Axar for the first Test, was released from the outfit.

But what could be the combination for Team India in the second Test is a red-hot topic. Speaking about the same, former India opener Wasim Jaffer has named one change that India will make for the upcoming match.

Jaffer reckoned that Axar would return to the playing XI but mentioned that India could be tempted to pick Mohammed Siraj as well, considering that it is a Day-Night Test. Although Jaffer didn’t name who will miss out, it is most likely that Jayant will be left out of the playing XI.

“Teams should look to bat first after winning the toss, especially in India, no doubt. I think Axar Patel will walk back into the playing XI, but India will be tempted to look at Mohammad Siraj with the pink ball. So, the only debatable position is the eleventh position, whether it is Siraj or Axar, but most likely it would be Axar,” said Jaffer while speaking to ESPNcricinfo.

Here is Wasim Jaffer’s possible playing XI of Team India for the second Test:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Axar Patel/Mohammed Siraj.
