WATCH: England’s Nat Sciver gets out in a bizarre way against South Africa in Women’s World Cup 2022

Nat Sciver gets out in bizarre fashion

In the 13th match of the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022, South Africa defeated England by 3 wickets to register their third consecutive win in the multi-team tournament.

Put in to bat first, England lost two wickets cheaply, and that’s when all-rounder Nat Sciver walked in to the middle. She looked in good touch and was taking her team on the road to recovery. But, an unusual dismissal led to her departure when she swung at a poor ball down the leg-side from fast bowler Masabata Klaas.

It all happened during the 12th over of England’s innings. Klaas delivered a short ball that Sciver looked to pull through the square leg. The white-leather smacked into Sciver’s hip before ricocheting off the back of her bat and lobbed directly towards Lizelle Lee at first slip and she took a comfortable catch.

After seeing the freakish dismissal, even the commentary team was in disbelief. Former England international Alex Hartley, who was on air, said: “I have absolutely no idea how on earth Nat Sciver has just done that. I’m not being funny, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on the cricket field.”

Here is the video:

Sciver’s wicket left England reeling at 47/3 before opener Tammy Beaumont and wicketkeeper Amy Jones added a 107-run partnership to resurrect the innings.

Both Beaumont and Jones score half-centuries as England posted a respectable total of 235/9 at the Bay Oval. Proteas all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was the star with the ball, picking up a five-wicket haul for 45 runs in 10 overs.

In reply, South Africa chased down the target with three wickets in hand, thanks to opener Laura Wolvaardt, who top-scored (77 off 101 balls) with the help of eight boundaries.
