IPL 2023 [WATCH]: Bhuvneshwar Kumar takes a stunning follow-through catch to dismiss Deepak Hooda in LSG vs SRH clash
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 10th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday (April 7). LSG emerged victorious in the game by five wickets and registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win over the Hyderabad-based team.
Electing to bat first, SRH had a shaky start, losing Mayank Agarwal and Aiden Markram early in the innings. However, Anmolpreet Singh (31) and Rahul Tripathi (34) steadied the innings with their partnership. Abdul Samad provided some late fireworks, but SRH could only manage 121/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya was the standout bowler for the Lucknow-based team as he picked up three wickets for 18 runs in his quota of four overs.
In response, LSG started decently but lost Kyle Mayers quite early. However, KL Rahul (35) and Krunal (34) stood firm on the crease and ensured to take their team closer to the target. Even though LSG lost a few wickets towards the end, they reached the target in the 16th over and won the match by five wickets.
On the other hand, Adil Rashid bagged two scalps for SRH, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik also picking up a wicket each for their team. But the effort by Hyderabad bowlers went in vain as they failed to restrict Lucknow and eventually lost the contest. The only wicket Bhuvneshwar took for his side came off a brilliant caught and bowled that he struck to dismiss Deepak Hooda.
On the last ball of the sixth over, Bhuvi delivered a length ball to Hooda, which the latter attempted to push for a single by stepping out of the crease, but the LSG batter ended up chipping it towards the bowler instead. The 33-year-old pacer made no mistake and was quick enough to dive towards his left and pull off a one-handed stunner after the follow-through. While, Bhuvneshwar was pumped up to dismiss Hooda, the right-handed batter went back to the pavilion in disappointment.
