Ajinkya Rahane pens heartwarming note after returning to India’s Test squad for ICC WTC Final

Ajinkya Rahane reacts after getting picked in India's Test squad

Veteran India batter Ajinkya Rahane is in the headlines for all the right reasons. The Mumbai cricketer has made his comeback to the India’s Test squad after BCCI picked him in the outfit for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Notably, Shreyas Iyer’s absence due to back injury had opened the doors for a middle-order batter and the Indian cricket board decided to fill the gap with Rahane, who has been a specialist and proven middle-order batter for Team India.

Not to mention that Rahane was dropped from the Test team in 2022 but he had a spectacular time in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23, where the right-handed batter amassed 634 runs from seven games at an average of 57.63 while leading Mumbai.

Rahane, who is currently plying his trade for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the sixteenth season of the cash-rich league, was super excited upon the return to the whites as he took to his official LinkedIn account and expressed his feelings.

“In my career as a professional cricketer, I have realized that the journey is not always smooth sailing. There are moments when things don’t go as planned, and it becomes tempting to get bogged down by the result. However, I have learned that it is essential to stick to the process and not let the outcome affect our focus,” Rahane wrote is his lengthy note.

“As I look back on my career, I realize that the moments when I stuck to the process, despite the unfavourable result, were the ones that taught me the most. These are the moments that helped me grow as a person and as a cricketer. I realized that the times when I let the result dictate my approach were not my finest moments,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Rahane’s comeback to the IPL has been nothing short of impressive, as he has amazed the cricketing world with his outstanding performances. In the ongoing tournament, the former India skipper has scored 209 runs in five innings, achieving an impressive strike rate of 199.04.
