Indian Premier League (IPL) sensation Tilak Varma recently received his maiden call-up to the national team. Tilak was picked in India’s T20I squad for the West Indies tour. The Mumbai Indians (MI) batter’s selection came after his consistent performance in the last two IPL seasons.

As far as Tilak’s IPL career is concerned, the explosive batter has amassed 740 runs in 25 matches at an impressive strike rate of 144.53, supported by three half-centuries.

It is worth mentioning that Tilak plays under the leadership of dynamic Rohit Sharma in the cash-rich league and holds the star India batter in high regard. Tilak’s father recently even shared a generous and heartwarming gesture of Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, from the couple’s visit to their home ahead of his son’s possible India debut against the West Indies.

The left-handed batter’s father recalled how Ritika sat on the floor in his house and revealed her heart-winning response when asked to sit on the sofa.

“Rohit Sharma and Ritika visited our house earlier. Ritika was sitting on the floor. I asked her to sit on the bench, but she said if I sit on the bench, it’ll be your house. If I sit on the floor, it’ll be our house. They both were very kind,” said Tilak’s father.

Speaking of Tilak, the Hyderabad cricketer has reached the Caribbean shores along with Suryakumar Yadav, Umran Malik and other players for the five-match T20I series, succeeded by three ODIs. Rohit will continue to lead Team India in the 50-over games, with Hardik Pandya captaining the side in T20Is..

Notably, India’s tour of West Indies 2023 commenced with a two-match Test leg that India won (1-0). The visitors won the opening game, while the second Test was drawn due to rain not allowing the play to take place on the final day.
