Injury woes hit The Hundred as Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry ruled out

In a major blow to The Hundred, two Australian cricketing stars, Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry, have been forced to withdraw from the tournament just three days before its much-anticipated 2023 edition is set to commence. Both players sustained injuries while on tour with the Australian team in Ireland, leading to their unfortunate absence from the prestigious competition.

Healy’s fractured finger and Perry’s knee problem:

Wicketkeeper-batter Healy suffered a fresh fracture on the index finger of her left hand, which was already recovering from a previous injury. On the other hand, all-rounder Perry encountered a knee problem that has necessitated a significant recovery period. Cricket Australia has confirmed that Perry will require four to six weeks of rest and rehabilitation to overcome the injury.

Healy and Perry’s replacement in The Hundred 2023:

In light of the injuries, Northern Superchargers swiftly replaced Healy with her compatriot, Phoebe Litchfield.

Litchfield, a talented batter, will join the squad to fill the void left by Healy’s absence. Meanwhile, Birmingham Phoenix is yet to announce a replacement for Perry, leaving fans eager to learn who will step in for the renowned all-rounder.
