ZIM vs IND – WATCH: Shubman Gill takes a screamer to dismiss Sikandar Raza in the 3rd ODI
Indian star Shubman Gill had a memorable outing on Monday when the Men in Blue took on Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI in Harare. Shubman smashed his maiden century in the 50-over format, scoring 130 off 97 balls, including 15 fours and a six, to help the tourists reach 289/8.
Gill not only impressed one and all with the bat, but he also gathered attention with a stunning catch that ended Zimbabwe’s centurion Sikandar Raza‘s astonishing innings, who was looking well-set to take the hosts over the finish line.
While defending 289/8, the visitors looked set for victory after reducing Zimbabwe to 122/5. However, Zimbabwe’s in-form batter Raza had some other plans. He stitched a 104-run partnership with Brad Evans and scored 115 from 95 deliveries, bringing Zimbabwe back in contention.
But during the penultimate over of Zimbabwe’s chase, Raza, in an attempt to go the full monty, swung a short of length slower ball over long-on. Though, the right-handed batter didn’t get the required elevation. Meanwhile, Gill swooped in from long on and timed his forward jump to perfection to take an absolute screamer inches above the ground.

First with the bat and then with a diving catch, this man won our hearts more than once today 😍
How good was this effort from @ShubmanGill to dismiss the dangerous Sikandar Raza? 🤩💯#ShubmanGill #ZIMvIND #TeamIndia #SirfSonyPeDikhega pic.twitter.com/u5snCqECBw

“I was just trying to minimise my dot ball percentage. I tried to hit the gaps as much as possible. When I went in, there were a couple of bowlers bowling good. It was crucial to get through that. Once we were settled, we knew we could attack. The bat was pretty good. That’s why I changed it after my 50, I wanted to save it. Definitely special (on hitting his maiden international ton). (Playing in this team) It feels great, great bunch of players. Feels good when you are with the same bunch,” said Gill after the match.
