‘Fans and media go at him unnecessarily’: Wasim Akram on Virat Kohli’s poor form
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has shared his thoughts on the much-talked-about poor form of Indian superstar Virat Kohli. Akram reckoned that Kohli will be able to return to peak form sooner than later.
Notably, Kohli has been going through a rough patch in international cricket for a long time now, with his last international century coming back in 2019.
Due to his lean patch, the 33-year-old has been on the receiving end, with fans and experts criticising his inconsistency with the willow. Though, Akram opined Kohli has been criticised unnecessarily by a section of Indian cricket fans and media, stating that the former India captain’s class cannot be questioned.
“Let me start off with from last year or so, whatever I have been seeing on social media, from Indian fans, against Virat Kohli… most of them, fans or press, or whoever they may be, having a go at him unnecessarily. He is only 33, he is one of the greatest of all time,” said Akram while speaking to Star Sports in a virtual presser ahead of Asia Cup 2022
“He is extraordinary. He is averaging 50-plus in all formats, he is still fit as a fiddle, he is still one of the best fielders in the Indian squad, and like they say, form is temporary, class is forever. That is Virat Kohli. I am sure he will come back and score runs. I hope he doesn’t come back against Pakistan, but he will make a comeback,” he added.
