ZIM vs IND: Robin Uthappa suggests two changes Team India should make for the 3rd ODI
After winning the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe, Team India will be aiming for a whitewash in the ongoing three-match ODI series. But would there be any changes in the playing XI? Well, India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning team member Robin Uthappa has suggested a few changes that KL Rahul should make in the final XI of the Indian team.
Uthappa reckoned that India should make changes to their batting order for the third ODI in Harare and give chances to Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who haven’t got the opportunity in the series yet.
“As far as batting is concerned, I don’t know if they will make too many changes. Shahbaz may get a game, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi have been waiting in the wings for a while. It will be unfair if they don’t get a game, and it will also be unfair to the youngsters who are playing right now, for example, Shubman Gill, who is in such great form,” said Uthappa while speaking on Sony Sports Network.
Further, Uthappa also observed that Deepak Chahar would be back into the playing XI, and Shardul Thakur shall remain in the side. He mentioned that Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj might get a break as well.
Notably, Shardul didn’t play the series opener but was included in the second ODI and took three wickets as India won the match by five wickets to clinch the series. Chahar, on the other hand, played in the first ODI and took three wickets, and was named Player of the Match.
“Definitely, I think Chahar will come back into the frame, I think Avesh Khan will get a game, and Prasidh might get a break. Maybe Siraj could also get a break, Shardul would play, I think. They have anyway decided to rotate the fast bowlers so that everyone remains fresh,” Uthappa added.
