IPL 2022: KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan lavishes praise on Andre Russell after big win over PBKS

Shah Rukh Khan on Andre Russell

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was overjoyed with his franchise’s stunning triumph over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the eighth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Shah Rukh took to his official Twitter handle and heaped praises on Andre Russell, who demolished PBKS bowling attack, hitting a blistering 31-ball 70 not out as Knight Riders chased down the paltry 138-run target with 5.3 overs to spare and six wickets in hand.

Shah Rukh expressed his joy at Russell’s return to scintillating form as the West Indies all-rounder went all guns blazing and smashed eight humungous sixes to rip apart the PBKS bowling unit.

“Welcome back, my friend @Russell12A, so long since saw the ball fly so high!!! It takes a life of its own when U hit it, Man!” Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter.

In his post, the King Khan also lavished praise on fast bowler Umesh Yadav and KKR captain Shreyas Iyer. Notably, Umesh delivered a breathtaking spell that helped KKR to bundle out Punjab for a mere 137 runs. The right-arm speedster went on to register his career-best figures in the cash-rich league, bagging four wickets for just 23 runs in his quota of 4 overs, including a maiden.

Similarly, Iyer displayed sensational signs of captaincy n IPL 2022 by being aggressive with his bowling changes. Inside 17 overs, Iyer used all his four main bowlers, and the move worked like magic for KKR as PBKS had lost their first 8 wickets for just 102 runs.

“And @y_umesh, wow! To @ShreyasIyer15 & team, well done.Have a happy nite, boys,” added Shah Rukh in his tweet.

“Feeling awesome, this is the reason why we play the game. In that position, I know what I can do. I backed my ability, and that’s what I did tonight. I am happy to bring the team over the line. I am happy to do whatever the team requires,” Russell had said after the match.
