IPL 2022 [WATCH]: Mukesh Choudhary cleans up Ishan Kishan with a toe-crushing yorker in MI vs CSK clash
Mumbai Indians (MI) got off to the worst possible start in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 campaign, losing their seventh consecutive match on Thursday. MI locked horns with arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday evening, where they lost the contest by nine wickets.
CSK pacer Mukesh Choudhary laid the foundation after returning with sensational bowling figures. He provided the much-needed early breakthrough right in the first over of MI’s innings, removing both the openers – Rohit Sharma (0) and Ishan Kishan (0) – for ducks.
The Bhilwara-born speedster first dismissed MI skipper Rohit after the right-handed batter miscued his shot, which was taken comfortably by Mitchell Santner at mid-on. However, what came next was an absolute peach of a delivery that got rid of Kishan.
The 25-year-old bowled a 139.8ks ripping yorker which uprooted the stumps of Kishan. The explosive left-handed batter played all around it, judging the line completely wrong, getting beaten on the outside edge as his off-stump went for a walk.

In the match, despite the early blows, MI managed to post 155/7 in 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant half-century by youngster Tilak Varma. The 19-year-old smashed an unbeaten 51 off 43 balls to take Mumbai to a competitive total.
In reply, the match went down to the wire, with CSK needing 16 runs off the final four balls. Former skipper MS Dhoni kept his cool and hit Jaydev Unadkat for a six, a four, a couple and another four to take CSK home and prove why the veteran stumper is known as the best finisher in the world.
“Have to bowl well in the powerplay where I’m supposed to bowl three overs. There is no pressure, actually, to play with such big players around you automatically takes all the pressure away. I just want to have a good time and enjoy myself,” said Choudhary after the match.
