Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) were condemned to their first defeat of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after a clinical finish by the Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Chasing 163 for victory, Williamson (57 off 46) notched up a well-paced half-century to help his side reach the set target with eight wickets in hand and five balls to spare.
On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan took two wickets apiece while Marco Jansen and Umran Malik claimed a scalp each. While Bhuvneshwar sent back in-form Shubman Gill (7) early, Natarajan and Malik removed Sai Sudharsan (11) and Matthew Wade (19), respectively. Jansen, on the other hand, affected further damage by dismissing David Miller on 12.
Pandya then aced to his 4th IPL fifty and Abhinav Manohar scored 35, helping GT reach 162/7 in their stipulated 20 overs.
