Rashid is currently plying his trade for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Last week, the 23-year-old added another feather to his illustrious cap as he became the second overseas spinner in the history of IPL to reach the landmark of 100 wickets.

The spin sensation completed the incredible feat when he bagged his first wicket against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 35 of the fifteenth season. Rashid also became the joint-fastest spinner in terms of matches to reach the 100-wicket mark in the cash-rich league.

Fastest to 100 wickets in IPL:

  • 83 – Amit Mishra
  • 83 – Rashid Khan
  • 84 – Yuzvendra Chahal
  • 86 – Sunil Narine

“It is a kind of pressure when you are on 99. Luckily I got those two wickets, and I am happy. But bowling economical helps put pressure. The more I bowl to Russell, the better for us. If we keep blocking, that might change momentum. His body doesn’t get used to blocking the ball. So happy to be on the winning side,” Rashid had said after completing 100 wickets in IPL.
