Cricket fraternity erupts as India beat England in the 2022 ICC U-19 World Cup final

India beat England in U-19 World Cup final

India clinched the U-19 Cricket World Cup title for the record fifth time after beating England by four wickets in the final of the 2022 edition, riding on a sensational all-round performance from Raj Angad Bawa in Antigua on Saturday.

The Chandigarh-born Bawa first picked up a five-wicket haul (5/31), helping India bowl out England for just 189 and then made a valuable 35 down the order, guiding the Men in Blue in reaching the set target with 2.2 overs to spare.

Earlier, England opted to bat after winning the toss, but they were shot out by India in 44.5 overs with pacer Bawa and Ravi Kumar (4/34) sharing nine wickets between them.

The victory is special for Yash Dhull and Co. as they defeated all odds to triumph in the Caribbean. The Indian team was struck with COVID-19 early in the tournament, which saw captain Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed, along with a few other players, miss a couple of matches after being tested positive.
