Suryakumar Yadav, Venkatesh Iyer

In the latest T20I Rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday, Indian batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav and aspiring all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer have accomplished major gains.

Notably, both Surya and Venkatesh enjoyed a fruitful series with the bat against West Indies, which saw the ‘Men in Blue’ complete a 3-0 whitewash. Suryakumar was India’s highest run-getter in the series, while Iyer was just behind him.

In the series opener, Suryakumar and Venkatesh rescued the hosts in their chase and took them across the line with more than an over to spare. Similarly, in the third and final T20I against the Caribbeans, the pair once again teamed up and bailed India out of trouble. Both batters took Windies’ attack to the cleaners, forming a dominating 91-run stand from just 37 balls to help India post a massive total. While Surya smashed 65 off 31 balls, Venkatesh remained unbeaten on 35 off 19 deliveries.

The stellar performances with the willow helped Surykumar advance 35 slots to No.21, whereas Venkatesh made a huge jump of 203 spots to No.115 in the rankings for batters. For the West Indies, their vice-captain Nicholas Pooran moved up five places to No.13.

There was no change in the top-10 batters rankings currently headed by Pakistan captain Babar Azam. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli retained their respective places of number six and ten.

Among the bowlers, Australian spinner Ashton Agar broke into the top 10 rankings acquiring the ninth position after an impressive performance against Sri Lanka in the five-match T20I series. For the Islanders, Maheesh Theekshana attained his career-high rating of 592 after climbing 12 places to No. 17.

South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi managed to retain his top position among bowlers, while Afghanistan superstar Mohammad Nabi owns the number one spot in the all-rounders’ category.
