IPL 2022: Mohammad Kaif predicts the highest-paid players in the upcoming auction

Mohammad Kaif picks highest-paid players in IPL 2022 mega auction

As the mega-auctions for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is approaching, many experts have started picking their choice of players who could become the most expensive buys in the bidding event. Following the bandwagon, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has made his prediction regarding the same.

Kaif has named certain players who will find a big deal in the mega auction, which is all set to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Kaif reckoned the first 10-15 players will get the most benefit as franchises look to invest heavily in the initial stages of the bidding process.

“Big players who will be made available or will be up for grab at the later stage of the auction might get paid less because in the starting, teams will have a task to make a core squad, and they will bid heavily for good players in the beginning. The starting 10-15 players in the bid-lineup will get the benefit,” Kaif told Zee News in a Facebook live chat.

The former Uttar Pradesh skipper reckoned that Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and Australian superstar David Warner would be the highest-paid players before adding the South African duo of Quinton de Kock and Kagiso Rabada to the list.

Kaif believed Dhawan’s consistency with the bat over the years in the cash-rich league would work in his favour. Similarly, Warner’s tremendous run in the T20 World Cup 2021 would do wonders for him.

“Shikhar Dhawan can be the highest-paid player. Every year he scores 400-500 runs and was a part of a good team (Delhi Capitals). David Warner can also become the most expensive player because of his superb performance in the 2021 T20 World Cup, and he’s captain material as well. Quinton de Kock and Kagiso Rabada can also be in the list,” added Kaif.
