Pakistan name T20I and ODI squads for the home series against West Indies
On Thursday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against West Indies.
The Windies tour of Pakistan is scheduled to begin later this month, from December 13 to December 22. During this period, both sides will battle it out in the three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and as many T20 Internationals (T20Is). The T20I series will begin on December 13, while the ODI leg will start on December 18. Karachi’s National Stadium will host all the matches.
Senior batting duo of Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed, along with all-rounder Imad Wasim have been dropped from the T20I outfit. Sarfaraz was also not being considered for the ODI fixtures.
While announcing the squad, chief selector Muhammad Wasim said: “As we have been playing T20Is since October and now have a pretty settled and balanced side, we have decided to reduce the number of players to 15. As such, we have not included Imad Wasim, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik.”
Pacer Hasan Ali has been given the rest from both T20I and ODI series, considering his workload management.
“In consultation with Hasan Ali and taking into consideration that he has been playing non-stop cricket since returning from a back injury, we have decided to give him time off from this series,” added Wasim.
Here are the squads:
