Ramiz Raja breaks his silence on Yasir Shah’s alleged involvement in the sexual assault case
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has broken his silence over the recent controversy related to leg-spinner Yasir Shah.
Notably, Pakistan leg spinner Yasir was booked in a case of aiding the rape of a 14-year-old minor. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Shalimar police station in Islamabad on December 19, which stated that Yasir’s friend had raped the minor and then proceeded to film the whole thing as well. Further, the girl had also accused Yasir of threatening her with severe consequences if she went to the authorities and spoke about the incident.
Sharing his thoughts over the whole news, Ramiz said that the Pakistan cricketers should know with whom they should socialize as they are ambassadors of the game as well.
“It is a no-brainer, Yasir is a circuit player, and while we train and educate these players, they are in ambassadorial positions and should know with whom and where to socialize,” said Ramiz in a press meet.
The PCB chief asserted that he was not aware of the exact truth behind the allegation levied on Yasir but admitted that such headlines are not good for the overall health of Pakistan cricket, especially at times when the national team is doing well across formats.
“I don’t know what is the truth in this case, but it is a fact that such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket and especially at a time when there is a feel-good factor going through Pakistan Cricket now,” added Ramiz.
Earlier, the PCB had released a statement that it would gather all information concerning the whole matter and shall comment in the presence of all facts.
“The PCB is presently gathering information at its end and will only offer a comment when in possession of complete facts,” the PCB statement read.
