Yashasvi Jaiswal learning batting from Virat Kohli

Yashasvi Jaiswal finished the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as the fifth-highest run-scorer of the season with five half-centuries and one century. Yashasvi smashed 625 runs in 14 matches and won the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ award for his exceptional batting display. However, his sensational efforts couldn’t help Rajasthan Royals (RR) reach the event’s playoffs, and the team finished fifth on the points table.

Jaiswal recently got a call-up from the Indian team to join the squad as a standby player ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia. The 21-year-old  replaced the Chennai Super Kings opening batter, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is getting married in the first week of June.  For India, alongside left-handed opener Jaiswal, middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav and right-arm pacer Mukesh Kumar have also been included as standby players.

In his first training session with the Indian side, Jaiswal was seen learning from the other greats of the game including Virat Kohli. The video of the same was released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their official Instagram page. The former India captain was seen demonstrating batting positions to the youngster.

The video and images went viral on social media, and fans flooded it with comments. The skillful youngster learning the batting technique from the cricketing legend became the central topic of discussion among the fans.

One of the users wrote: “Learning from the best.” Meanwhile, the other fan commented: “Jaiswal learning to carry hopes of 1.4 billion people from Virat.”

Here’s how fans reacted:

India will lock horns with Australia in the WTC final, scheduled from June 7 to June 11 at The Oval in Southampton, with June 12 marked as the reserve day. This will be the second consecutive Test Championship Final for team India.
