Shreyas Iyer hits a ton on his Test debut

On Friday, Shreyas Iyer etched his name in history books as he became the fifteenth Indian batter to hit a century on his debut match in Test cricket. He also became the third Indian to hit a ton against New Zealand in his maiden Test.

Iyer reached the milestone against the Black Caps on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test at Green Park in Kanpur. On the first ball of the 92nd over of India’s first innings, the Mumbaikar batsman gently dabbed the ball behind point to take a couple to complete his hundred. Although, in the 97th over, Iyer was caught by Will Young for 105 runs. He scored 13 fours and a couple of sixes.
