Australian legend Shane Warne gets injured in a motorbike accident
Australian spin legend Shane Warne has reportedly injured himself in a motorbike accident on Sunday, November 28. Warne took his bike for a ride with his son Jackson in Melbourne when he fell off and slid for more than 15 metres.
Warne didn’t seek immediate treatment but went to the hospital on Monday morning to get himself checked out after waking up in severe pain. The Test great was concerned with having damaged his hip and fearing his foot or ankle may have been broken.
“I’m a bit battered and bruised and very sore,” Warne said on Monday morning as quoted by Fox Cricket. Notably, the spin wizard has been riding motorbikes for more than two years.
Warne, who is part of the Fox Sports commentary team for the upcoming Ashes series that starts on December 8 at the Gabba, said he’d be ready to commentate.
Not so long ago, Warne had shared his thoughts on Steve Smith becoming the vice-captain of the Australian Test team, stating the move creates a bad impression and the Cricket Australia should throw their code of conduct away.
“We all love Steve Smith and are proud that he’s the best Test batsman in the world again, but he should not be the Australian vice-captain. Everyone makes mistakes, we know that, and we’ve all moved on from sandpaper-gate. But that happened under Steve Smith’s captaincy; he allowed that to happen on his watch. But his second chance is getting to play for Australia again, and in my opinion, announcing him as vice-captain opens up CA (Cricket Australia) for ridicule and criticism, and they should throw the code of conduct out the window,” Warne had written in his column for the Herald Sun.
