SL vs WI: WATCH – Debutant Jeremy Solozano stretchered off after being hit on the helmet during 1st Test
West Indies debutant Jeremy Solozano suffered a nasty blow on the head while fielding in the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium on Sunday.
It all happened in the 24th over of Sri Lanka’s first innings on Day 1. Roston Chase bowled a short delivery on middle to Dimuth Karunaratne, who rocked back and went for a pull.
The shot was hit hard, but unfortunately, the red leather banged into the helmet of short leg fielder Solozano. The rear part of the helmet came off as he was hit. The impact of the shot was so hard that the fielder immediately took off his helmet and went down on the ground.
Soon the physio came out on the field, with Solozano lying straight down on the ground. He was surrounded by the entire West Indies team as well as the Sri Lanka batters. The 26-year-old was then taken off the field as the ambulance rushed in around the sidelines.
