Skipper’s reaction after winning the championship
In the post-match presentation, London Spirit captain Heather Knight heaped praises for Deepti and thanked the support staff in helping them to fulfill their dream.
“Not the best watch to be honest, it was nervy chasing but Deepti is an experienced player, she held her nerves and did it for us. Our international players were great. Everyone has played their roles well. I think we recruited really well, picking Meg [Lanning] and Georgia [Redmayne].
“Absolutely stoked with Deepti, she has been brilliant with both bat and ball. Eva Gray was good with the ball as well. So much goes into the tournament, thankful to the staff, it takes a lot of effort in franchise cricket. We had a little tricky period in the middle with some losses, we wanted to be aggressive and calm, we did that towards the backend, yesterday and today. Been a scrappy game today but we got the job done and that is what matters. Credit to the Fire as well, they were really good.”
