Former Indian captain MS Dhoni reflects on his bond with Virat Kohli
At a recent event in Hyderabad, former Indian cricket captain and World Cup winner MS Dhoni shared insights into his relationship with Virat Kohli. The duo has been instrumental in shaping Indian cricket over the last decade, contributing significantly to the team’s successes, including the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup victory in 2011 and the Champions Trophy triumph in 2013.

Dhoni mentioned that they have known each other for a significant period, and he regards Virat as one of the finest cricketers globally. “We have been colleagues who played for India for a long time. He (Virat) has been amongst the best in world cricket.”
Dhoni further elaborated that it was always enjoyable to bat alongside Virat, as their time together on the pitch was consistently fun. “The fact that I could bat a lot with him during the middle overs was a lot of fun because we used to take a lot of threes and twos in the game. It has always been fun.”
Dhoni also mentioned that, although he and Virat don’t meet frequently, whenever they do, they make it a point to have meaningful conversations with each other. “It was not like we met very often, but whenever we got a chance, we made sure that we went on the side and chatted for some time. We would talk about what was going on, so that is our relationship.”

In a thrilling final against South Africa at the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat was named Man of the Match for his outstanding knock of 76 runs off 59 balls. His contribution was pivotal in securing India‘s victory in the tournament.
Currently, Virat is showcasing his prowess in the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, continuing to be a vital asset to the Indian cricket team.
