India beat Nepal in Asia Cup 2023

In a thrilling encounter at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, India secured a commanding victory over Nepal in their fifth match of the Asia Cup 2023. India’s impressive performance with both the bat and ball ensured a one-sided contest as they chased down Nepal’s target with ease. The match, which was interrupted by rain and decided by the DLS method, saw India win by 10 wickets.

Disciplined bowling restrict Nepal to a low score

Nepal struggled to establish a significant partnership, as their batting line-up faltered against India’s bowling attack. Kushal Bhurtel was the top scorer for Nepal, contributing a brisk 38 runs off 25 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Aasif Sheikh played a patient innings, scoring 58 runs off 97 balls, but the rest of the batting order couldn’t provide substantial support.

For India, Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three crucial wickets for 61 runs in 9.2 overs. Ravindra Jadeja also played a pivotal role, taking three wickets while conceding 40 runs in his 10-over spell. Nepal managed to post a total of 230 runs before getting bowled out in the 48th over.

Gill complemented him brilliantly, scoring 67 runs off 62 balls, which included eight fours and one six. The Indian duo’s unbroken partnership of 147 runs ensured a comprehensive victory for their team.

As the match progressed, rain interruptions resulted in a revised target for India. The DLS method came into play, and India was required to score 146 runs from 20.1 overs. With Rohit and Gill’s dominant partnership, India comfortably achieved the revised target, winning the match by 10 wickets.
