Cricket enthusiasts around the world are gearing up for the much-anticipated start of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence on October 5. The first clash of this prestigious tournament is set to be an electrifying rematch between England and New Zealand, the finalists of the 2019 ODI World Cup. The eagerly awaited opening match will unfold at the grand Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
Team India, led by the formidable Rohit Sharma, will begin their campaign on October 8 in Chennai against the five-time world champion Australia. With their current standing as the world’s top-ranked team in all three formats of cricket, the hosts carry high hopes and expectations as they seek to claim the ODI World Cup title.
Before the official commencement of the ODI World Cup 2023, all ten participating teams will have the opportunity to fine-tune their skills and strategies through a series of warm-up matches. These preparatory encounters will be spread across three venues in India and will span from September 29 to October 3.
India are scheduled to play two warm-up matches, which will serve as important practice sessions ahead of the tournament. They will face off against defending champions England in their first warm-up match in Guwahati. Following this, they will take on the Netherlands in their second practice game in the picturesque city of Thiruvananthapuram.
