After winning the toss, South Africa opted to field first, a decision they would soon come to regret. Aussie batters unleashed a relentless assault on the bowlers, amassing a staggering 392 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Marnus Labuschagne, who bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ in the previous encounter, continued his spectacular run showcasing his class with a remarkable 124 runs off 99 balls, featuring 19 fours and 1 six. Despite some resistance from South African bowlers, including Tabraiz Shamsi‘s four-wicket haul, Australia set an imposing target of 393 for South Africa to chase.

Adam Zampa wreaked havoc with incredible bowling

Facing the daunting target, the hosts started their innings with a flurry of boundaries. Openers Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma provided a strong foundation with their respective scores of 45 runs off 30 balls and 46 runs off 40 balls. However, Australia’s bowlers struck back at crucial intervals to put pressure on the Proteas.

Adam Zampa was the star performer for Australia, claiming four wickets for 48 runs. Nathan Ellis and Aaron Hardie provided crucial breakthroughs as well, taking two wickets each. South Africa’s middle-order batters, including David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen, fought valiantly but couldn’t steer their team to victory. In the end, South Africa were bowled out for 269 runs in 41.5 overs, falling short of the target by 123 runs.
