WATCH: Shakib Al Hasan mimics Allu Arjun’s move from ‘Pushpa’ after dismissing Faf du Plessis in BPL 2022
Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun‘s movie ‘Pushpa: The Rising’ continued to be a hot-favourite among cricketers across the world. Recently, Australian opener David Warner and Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina have performed the ‘Pushpa walk’ – a dance step from the movie’s song ‘Srivalli’. The latest to join the league is Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
It all happened during the match between Comilla Victorians and Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2022. Although, instead of going for the iconic ‘Pushpa walk’, Shakib decided to mimic another famous scene from the movie with a different touch.
It happened when Shakib dismissed former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis. The Fortune Barishal captain deceived Du Plessis in the air as the batter ended up giving a simple catch to the fielder at long-on. Shakib then celebrated the big wicket by copying Arjun’s much-talked-about ‘gesture’ in which he runs his hand across the chin.

Comilla Victorians register impressive win
In the match, Barishal’s suffered a 63-run defeat. Dwayne Bravo‘s three-wicket haul and decent performance with the ball by Shakib helped their side restrict Comilla at 158/7. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy top-scored with 48 off 35 balls. Karim Janat (29 off 16) chipped in with a crucial cameo to help Comilla put up a competitive total.
In reply, Barishal were bundled out for a mere 96, losing the contest by 63 runs. Najmul Hossain (36 off 47 balls) was the only batter who could cross the mark of 30-run. For Comilla, Nahidul Islam was their pick of the bowler, taking three scalps for just five runs in his quota of 4 overs.
Apart from Nahidul, Shohidul Islam (2/22), Janat (2/26), and Tanvir Islam (2/19) bagged two wickets each.
“Winning is always a good feeling. Very happy with the team’s performance. Even in the last match, Nahidul bowled very well, he had the confidence. (On Mahmudul Hasan Joy) He’s a great prospect for Bangladesh, a promising player, he looks very positive. I am very glad for him. (On Karim Janat) He has done really well. He’s a good power-hitter. (On Faf’s catch) That was an incredible catch, he’s taken so many catches like that,” said winning captain Imrul Kayes after the match.
