India’s cricket icon Yuvraj Singh predicts the winner of T20 World Cup 2024

Yuvraj Singh foresees the T20 World Cup 2024 victor

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, celebrated for his pivotal role in India‘s triumph during the 2007 T20 World Cup, has stepped into the arena of predictions for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

T20 World Cup 2024 to take place in West Indies and USA

The tournament, set to take place in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) in June after the culmination of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, is generating heightened excitement as 20 teams gear up for a fiercely competitive showdown. Notably, this will mark the first ICC World Cup event hosted by the West Indies since the 2010 T20 World Cup, presenting a unique opportunity for the USA to showcase its cricketing prowess on the global stage.

In a surprising move during a thumbsup commercial alongside another former Indian champion cricketer, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj defied the conventional choices of cricket powerhouses like India, Australia and England. Instead, he placed his bet on South Africa, considering them as the favorites to lift the coveted trophy.

Yuvraj’s rationale behind this unexpected choice revolves around the belief that the Proteas, having only clinched the ICC trophy (Knockout Trophy) once in 1998, would be driven by immense motivation to secure another title. The 42-year-old pointed out South Africa’s commendable performance in the recent ICC Cricket ODI World Cup 2023, where they reached the semi-finals.

While making his predictions, he also acknowledged the strength of Pakistan as a formidable team. The Chandigarh-born cricketer anticipated that Pakistan could pose a significant challenge for Team India in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

“I want them to and I think South Africa will win. They have not won a white ball tournament and the way I saw their progress in the 50-over World Cup. And then obviously there’s Pakistan who are very dangerous,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by TimesNow.
