On Saturday, March 4, Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon performed at the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) Opening Ceremony in Mumbai. Their dance performances on Bollywood songs were highly energetic and exciting. After the gig, both actresses took to social media to express their joy and share their experiences.
Kiara, who portrayed the role of Sakshi Singh Rawat in ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, took to her Instagram handle and shared a video of her performance. Alongside the post, Kiara wrote, “Humbled and honoured to perform Live at the first ever Women’s Premier League in India! Kriti, the ‘Heropanti’ fame actress, shared that she’s honoured and privileged to perform at the opening ceremony of the first ever WPL.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “…Aasmaan ka swaad hai, muddatton ke baad hai. It was an honour and a privilege to perform at the opening ceremony of the first ever Women’s Premier League! Cricket has always been looked as more of a male sport and I’m so happy and proud that the women cricketers are getting opportunities, platforms and validation that they have always deserved.”
“WPL, which has been organised at a huge level and is being aired in 47 countries, is truly a symbol of change and progress. Thank you BCCI @wplt20 for making me a small part of the celebration of this change,” the model-turned-actress added.

After the dancing and singing performances at the DY Patil Stadium, captains of all five WPL teams – Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians), Beth Mooney (Gujarat Giants), Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals), Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz) unveiled the coveted trophy.
