With just a fews hours left for the start of the 16th edition of the world’s biggest T20 league the excitement among the fans is increasing at a rapid pace. The first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between the reigning champion Gujarat Titans (CSK) and the four-time winner Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, March 31.

The opening match of IPL 2023 will not only mark the beginning of the tournament but also feature an exciting opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Known as the world’s largest cricket stadium, with a seating capacity of 1,25,000 spectators, the ceremony will showcase performances by Bollywood celebs like Tamannaah Bhatia and Rashmika, adding to the entertainment quotient for the fans.

Tamannah and Rashmika geared up for the opening ceremony with multiple practice sessions at the venue of the event on Thursday. In a video posted on the official Twitter handle of IPL, Tamanna could be seen shaking a leg with a group of dancers. The two South Indian actresses will be joined by star singer Arijit Singh for the star-studded opening ceremony that is scheduled to begin at 6 pm IST.

“The opportunity of performing with Arijit (Singh) and Rashmika (Mandanna) is something that I am really looking forward to,” Tamannah was quoted as saying in the video.

Moreover, IPL 2023 is expected to be a special edition of the tournament as it will revert to its original format of home and away games, which was last seen in the 2019 season. The last three editions were either held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or on select venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, several new rules will be implemented for the first time in the history of the tournament, further adding to the excitement for the fans.
