Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly & others react as India beat England in U19 Women’s T20 World Cup final
India made history on Sunday (January 29) as they clinched the inaugural edition of Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup final by defeating England in the final.
Chasing a paltry target of 69, India reached the set total in 14 overs with 7 wickets in hand.
Earlier, India’s bowling attack, led by fast bowler Titas Sadhu and leg-spinner Parshavi Chopra, dished out a superlative performance after electing to field first. Sadhu returned with impressive figures of 4-0-6-2 while Chopra snapped two wickets for 13 runs.
Sadhu was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for her economical spell.
“The way all the girls are performing and backing each other, so happy. Incredible feeling. Thanks to the staff, the way they have been backing us everyday and telling us that we are here for the cup and because of them we are here. All thanks to them,” Shafali Verma, the winning captain, said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“The players have been backing me a lot. Thanks to BCCI for giving me this beautiful team and really happy for winning the cup,” she added.
Here’s how Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly & others reacted to India’s title triumph:
