SYS vs HBH: WATCH: D’Arcy Short floors Naveen-ul-Haq with a massive collision – BBL|12

D'Arcy Short floored Naveen-ul-Haq after a collision in BBL_12.

In the 11th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23, Sydney Sixers defeated Hobart Hurricanes at their home ground on Thursday. The contest was trimmed down to 14 overs per side due to rain, and the Sixers secured a 6-run victory to finally open their account after losing their first two games in the tournament.

During the contest, an incident occurred where Hurricanes batter D’Arcy Short and Sixers’ pacer Naveen-ul-Haq were involved in a collision. It all happened on the first ball of the second over after Naveen bowled a good length delivery to Short, who flicked it through midwicket and ran for a single.

As Short was running to the non-striker’s end, he ended up colliding with Naveen, and the Afghanistan pacer fell flat on the ground. Short gave him a shoulder push after he saw the bowler standing in his way and didn’t seem apologetic after the incident. Naveen looked shell-shocked as he couldn’t believe exactly how he was floored despite not coming in Short’s way directly.

Here is the video:

Coming to the match, Sixers, after opting to bat first, posted 137/6 in 14 overs, courtesy of a 21-ball 43-run knock from Josh Philippe. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed 4 fours and a six and formed a 68-run opening stand with Kurtis Patterson, who scored 38 off 25 balls, including 2 fours and as many sixes. Hayden Kerr provided the late blows of 20-ball 32 to ensure Sixers reached a competitive total.

In response, the Hurricanes managed to score 131/7, losing the contest by just 6 runs. Sean Abbott, Kerr, and Steve O’Keefe exhibited brilliant bowling to help the Sixers register their maiden win of the ongoing season. While Abbott and Kerr picked up two wickets each, O’Keefe bagged one scalp and conceded only 7 runs in 2 overs.
