T20 World Cup 2022: WATCH – Fan breaches security to meet Rohit Sharma at MCG, fined INR 6.5 Lakhs
Team India finished the Super 12 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 with a commanding 71-run victory over Zimbabwe to acquire the top spot in the Group 2 point table. The likes of KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ravichandran Ashwin all lit up the Melbourne Cricket Ground with their respective performances to help India win and set up the semi-final clash with England.
While Suryakumar’s fireworks were the biggest eye-catching incident, there was another episode which garnered a lot of attention as a fan invaded the pitch to meet India skipper Rohit Sharma.
Notably, there have been numerous incidents when fans have managed to breach the security to go near their best-loved cricketers as they their favourite stars nothing less than God. A similar scene was on display when a young fan got onto the ground and was seen emotionally approaching Rohit.
It appeared the fan was seemingly in tears as he met Rohit but was soon taken away by the security officials. Moreover, it is understood that appropriate action has been taken against the fan, as he has been fined INR 6.5 lakhs for invading the field.

India will now meet England in the second semi-final, which will be played at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10). Speaking about the upcoming game, Rohit reckoned it would be a great contest and going to be a high-pressure match.
“The key for us will be to adjust to the conditions as quickly as possible. We’ve played a game there recently, but England will be a good challenge for us. They’ve been playing some good cricket. Two teams going at each other, it’ll be a great contest. We don’t want to forget what has got us here, we just need to keep sticking to that and understand what each individual needs to do. It’s going to be a high-pressure game. We need to play well. If we do play well there, we have a good game ahead as well. You need to adjust quickly and plan accordingly,” said Rohit after the game against Zimbabwe.
