T20 World Cup 2022, WATCH: Hardik Pandya gets out hit-wicket during IND vs ENG semifinal clash

Hardik Pandya gets out hit-wicket in IND vs ENG semi-final clash

Team India faced an embarrassing 10-wicket loss against England in the semi-final to get knocked out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. After posting 168/6, nobody would’ve anticipated the way England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales batted. The duo came out all guns blazing and put up an unbeaten 170-run stand for the opening wicket to take England to the final of the multi-team tournament.

Buttler and Hales ended the match within 16 overs, and that could’ve been more worse for India if Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli had not stood up to make sure the Men in Blue reached to a competitive total.

Notably, the Rohit Sharma-led side had scored only 62/2 at the halfway stage, and a fighting total was looking a bit doubtful. However, Kohli and Pandya added 61 runs for the fourth wicket to balance out the equation. Kohli was dismissed in the 18th over when the team’s score read 136. But then Pandya went on an onslaught and punished England’s bowlers in the death overs.

The star Indian all-rounder was dismissed on the last ball of the innings but in an unusual manner. Pandya was looking to whip England pacer Chris Jordan to the square leg boundary, but he went too deep in his crease and ended up stepping on his stumps to get out a hit-wicket. Interestingly, the batter timed the delivery quite well as it reached the boundary. But the stroke did not matter as Pandya was already dismissed.
