AB de Villiers responds to Suryakumar Yadav’s ‘There is only one 360° player’ remark

Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the top performers for India in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He is scoring runs at a brisk rate after coming in to bat at number 4.

In the Super 12 fixture against Zimbabwe, SKY once again starred with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 61 off just 25 balls and guiding India to a comprehensive 71-run victory at the jam-packed Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

With this win, the Rohit Sharma-led side finished at the top of the table in Group 2. India will now face England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.

AB de Villiers applauds Suryakumar Yadav’s batting display

Suryakumar has long been hailed as the new 360-degree player in world cricket while being compared with the former South Africa captain AB de Villiers. On Sunday, after his carnage against the Chevrons, SKY responded to the comparison and what followed was a heart-winning reply from De Villiers himself.

“There is only one 360-degree player in the world, and I will try to play like him,” said Suryakumar when ex-India pacer Irfan Pathan quizzed him about his comparison with ABD.

De Villiers later responded on Twitter, saying: “You’re very quickly getting there dude, and even more! Well played today.”

Suryakumar has been in blistering form in T20Is for India this year. Coming into the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, he was his team’s leading run-scorer in the shortest format and has lived up to the expectations in the marquee event. He recently completed 1,000 runs in T20Is in 2022 and became only the second batter after Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan to achieve the landmark.

The half-century against Zimbabwe was Suryakumar’s third in the ongoing tournament and he played some extraordinary strokes during his stay in the middle yet again.
