Cricket fraternity lauds Neeraj Chopra for winning a silver medal at World Athletics Championship

Cricket fraternity wishes Neeraj Chopra for bagging silver medal

Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on Sunday added another feather to his illustrious cap by bagging a silver medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA.

Chopra became only the second Indian athlete after the legendary Anju Bobby George to clinch a medal in the history of the tournament. Notably, Anju had won a bronze at the Paris Worlds in 2003.

Speaking about Chopra, he owned the silver medal with a best throw of 88.13m. Anderson Peters, however, successfully defended his title with an outstanding effort of 90.54m to bag the gold, while Jakub Vadlejch took bronze with a throw of 88.09m.

The cricket fraternity, including former and current cricketers, were all over the moon after watching Chopra’s stunning performance. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took to his official Twitter handle and wrote: “Unstoppable in every sense of the word well done @Neeraj_chopra1 ! Keep scripting history with the javelin in your hand! #worldchampionships2022 #NeerajChopraWinsSilver”.

Legendary cricketer and 2011 World Cup winner Sachin Tendulkar heaped praises on Chopra for scripting history.

“@Neeraj_chopra1 has added another laurel to his name! India is very proud of you! Heartiest congratulations on winning the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw at World Athletics Championships. #WCHOregon22,” tweeted Tendulkar.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag wished Chopra in his own unique style. He took to social media and wrote: “Years from now, there is going to be a generation of youngsters for whom “Kya Fenkta Hai” is going to be a massive compliment, thanks to this champion #NeerajChopra. Once again, making India proud with a Silver at the World Athletics Championship.”

Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who was blessed with a baby boy on Sunday, termed Chopra as the superstar while wishing the Javelin thrower.

“Congratulations #NeerajChopra What a superstar! @Neeraj_chopra1,” tweeted Krunal.
