Prasidh Krishna spills beans about the impact of Jasprit Bumrah’s guidance at NCA

Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna delivered an outstanding performance during the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland, marking his successful return after recovering from a stress fracture. His remarkable efforts played a pivotal role in India’s victory in the three-T20I series, which they won 2-0, with the final match in Dublin on August 23 getting washed out without a ball being bowled.

Krishna made a significant impact in the series, showcasing his bowling prowess. In the first T20I, he secured figures of 2/32, and in the second game, he claimed two more wickets while conceding just 29 runs.

This series marked a comeback for Krishna, who had been sidelined from cricketing action since August of the previous year due to a stress fracture. During his recovery period, he received valuable support from star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, as both fast bowlers underwent rehabilitation together at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Krishna’s takeaways from training alongside Bumrah at NCA

In an interview with JioCinema, Krishna shared insights into the encouragement and guidance he received from senior bowler Bumrah during their rehabilitation stint at the NCA.

“Working closely with Bumrah during our recovery at the NCA has definitely been enriching. His method of executing under pressure and his ability to keep things straightforward numerous occasions is inspiring. We’ve learned a lot from each other, and our partnership is already yielding results,” Krishna said.

The 27-year-old also discussed the specific areas of focus during his recovery phase at the NCA.

“Our sessions at the NCA were thoroughly productive. The clarity we maintained and the regular assessment of our physical and mental fitness helped us in achieving our rehabilitation goals. We initially concentrated on promoting overall well-being before transitioning into bowling practice. This approach ensured a steady recovery and helped in preparing us for match conditions,” the Bengaluru-born cricketer concluded.

Krishna’s successful return and his exceptional performances in the Ireland tour earned him a well-deserved spot in India’s 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The continental tournament is scheduled to commence on August 30 in Multan, with India kicking off their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in Pallekele on September 2. The tall speedster’s resurgence provides a significant boost to India’s fast-bowling resources, further strengthening the team’s prospects in this prestigious tournament.
